This Blog, The Learning Curve.
For the record, I want to state that there is a problem with this blog. The problem is that I'll have an insight about something and eagerly write it out, then a month later I might have an insight that the exact opposite is true. Hence there are posts in the archives that I now regard as totally inaccurate assumptions... I have more than once pondered "should I really be posting this rubbish?"
Its a messy process. But all subjects that I have attempted to learn and master went through this, there is no avoiding it. This is the total saturation method of learning... You continually fill your brain with information in no particular order or structure, and then its the minds tendency to start making connections. When these connections happen, you get insight, as if the connecting of two ideas spawns a third. Its a fast way to learn anything, but the process is messy. It also requires a high degree of energy which I've found tends to peak and then be followed by exhaustion. I can tell I've been in an exhaustion period. The really weird thing here is that if you do NOTHING during an exhaustion period the work still seems to go on in the background, yet if you force yourself it can be counter-productive.... So shelving the subject is also productive for a period. I'm not thinking of doing that though. The alternative method is the school way, one brick at a time, and an exam at each level. I find that less appealing though. |
