Quote From Van Tharp On Backtesting

Posted on 07/19/2007 09:26:22 | Link | Post Comment
Van Tharps book is one of the best I've read. Once again I have to say that I still don't know why on earth I spent good money on ebooks when books like this are available (and CHEAPER).

I'm now running out though, anyone got any suggestions for what to read next? I mean classic trading books. It would be nice to compile a list of the "must reads". Anyhow this morning I was reading his conclusion and he said this about some backtesting experiments he did:

"...We were using some well known very popular software to do the data collection and run the simple system. Yet when that software was run again in an historical mode on the same data it had collected, it produced a different set of results. That shouldn't happen, but it did. And in my opinion, thats quite scary."

Regarding trading, I've still seen nothing I want to trade for the whole week. Its good practice for me though to sit on my hands as in the past I'd try to 'force' the market.
