Could I Live Like This?
I'm nearly at the end of week one of my trading holiday. In fact I'm nearly at the end full stop because work rang up to tell me I'm needed next week. By trading holiday I sort of meant stay at home and do nothing, except trade. If I achieved my long term goal, this is what life would be like, so could I live like this?
The short answer is: YES! I figured there would be problems with discipline etc, and even though a week is not long enough to determine this, I actually think it wouldn't be such a problem. I quickly slipped into a routine where by I would get up, do yoga and have breakfast, then go and examine the charts and my trades from the night before just as the daily candles closed for the new day (Asian open). I would do my book keeping, my daily analysis, and place my orders for the day. Then thats kind of it. Nothing to do really until later, except study. Hence I now think boredom would be a bigger issue than lack of discipline (gee what a problem). However practically speaking in the real world, this goal is MILES AWAY. Several years minimum I reckon... Thats the harsh reality. I'd be a madman to quit my job without at least 100K in my trading account, so I guess I gotta just knuckle down and think long term ( like tunnelling your way out of Alcatraz using a small piece of cutlery. Haha). Is this still the goal? YES. People tell me its crazy, but who cares about them? The fact is that most of the great traders I have spoken to where in exactly the same position as me. They saw the opportunity, the did the work that was needed, they loved the subject, they reaped the rewards. I see no reason what so ever why I can't do the same. |
